PRE-FINISH Process
The beauty of wood! A main feature of Pella® is wood windows and doors that are made with an aluminum clad baked-on factory finish that needs no painting. By having unfinished wood on the interior of the product you are able to custom design virtually any look for your home by painting or staining. But who wants to take the time to create that custom design? Allow Pella Products of Kansas City to provide that service to you. Select prefinished Pella® windows and doors. Eliminate the work, hassle and mess of painting/staining or hiring a painter to finish your windows in your home. With Pella Products of Kansas City's prefinish service you can enjoy your new windows and doors, not work on them to get the finish look you were after when you began your project.
At Pella Products of Kansas City, we focus on customizing your windows and doors to your chosen colors. The following steps are taken when you choose to have your windows stained:
- Product is taken to an area where the window or door is unboxed and disassembled
- The window or door is prepped with a masking liquid to protect the glass and window shield to protect the clad
- The product is sanded, blown and tacked
- Product is stained
- A coat of Sherwood Kem Aqua sanding sealer is applied
- Product is allowed to dry
- Product is sanded with 600 sand paper to a smooth finish
- Product is blown and tacked
- Product has three coats of Kem Aqua sealer
- Product is allowed to dry
- Product is taken to reassembly and then stored in cure area for delivery
- 356 or 444 pine casing is finished (on full frame units) following the same process to match your new windows
The following steps are taken when you choose to have your windows painted by us:
- Product is taken to an area where the window or door is unboxed and disassembled
- The window or door is prepped with a masking liquid to protect the glass and window shield to protect the clad
- Product is sanded, blown, and tacked
- A coat of Kem Aqua plus high solids surfacer is applied
- Product is sanded, blown and tacked
- 2 coats of Sherwood Kem Aqua plus is applied
- Product is allowed to dry
- Product is taken to reassembly and then stored in cure area for delivery
- 356 or 444 pine casing is finished (on full frame units) following the same process to match your new windows
